What Does Learning Support Include?
Learning support at Swanston Institute isn’t just about helping you pass your exams. It’s about empowering you with the skills and confidence to excel. Here’s how we make that happen:
One-on-One Tutoring
Struggling with a particular subject? You can book a one-on-one session with our knowledgeable tutors, who are trained to help you understand complex concepts and improve your overall academic performance.
Study Skills Workshops
These sessions focus on building essential skills, such as effective notetaking, research strategies, and time management. Our workshops are interactive, and you’ll get the chance to learn practical techniques that you can apply immediately to improve your studies.
Flexible Study Options
We understand that life outside of academics can be busy. Whether you’re working part-time, have family commitments, or simply need more flexibility, Swanston Institute offers adaptable study pathways, including part-time options and online resources for certain subjects.
Don’t wait until you’re feeling overwhelmed to seek help! Learning support is available to you from day one, so you can stay on top of your studies and avoid the stress of last-minute catchups
How to Access Learning Support
Our Student Support Officers are available throughout the academic year to assist with any learning-related concerns. Here’s how to make the most of our support services:
Identify Your Needs
If you’re finding it difficult to keep up with assignments or grasp specific concepts, reach out to a support officer. They can help you pinpoint areas where you may benefit from additional support.
Book a Tutoring Session
You can schedule an individual session with a tutor who specializes in your subject. These sessions are tailored to address your specific challenges, whether it’s understanding new material, assignments, or managing academic stress.
Resources for Independent Study
We believe that part of academic growth is learning how to study effectively on your own. That’s why Swanston Institute provides a wealth of resources for independent learning:
Access to Digital Libraries and Research Databases
Need to conduct research for an assignment? Our library offers online access to databases, academic journals, and e-books that you can access from home or on campus.
Study Materials
We offer access to supplementary study resources, including reference links, case studies and Learner guide material, to help you prepare for upcoming assignments.
Quiet Study Spaces and Group Rooms
Whether you need a quiet place to focus or a space to work on group projects, our campus has designated areas to meet your needs.
All these resources are available free of charge to Swanston Institute students. Make the most of them to support your learning!
Proactive Academic Progress Monitoring
Our Monitoring International Students Academic Progress Policy means that we track each student’s progress closely. This helps us identify when you may need additional support before academic issues become overwhelming. Here’s how it works:
Regular Checkpoints
At the end of each term, our team assesses your performance to ensure you’re meeting the academic requirements. If there are any concerns, we’ll reach out to you proactively.
Warning and Intervention
If your academic progress is below expectations, you’ll receive a friendly notification from us, along with an invitation to discuss intervention options. This isn’t a penalty—think of it as a checkpoint to ensure you’re on the path to success.
Intervention Programs
These include tailored support plans, one-on-one meetings with the Student Support Officers, and additional tutoring or academic coaching as needed.
