Study with Credit Transfers

What is a credit transfer?

A credit transfer is formal recognition that you have previously completed a unit of your course through VET or higher education.

To receive a credit transfer, you must provide evidence that you have completed the same unit or one with equivalent content and learning outcomes. Acceptable evidence includes a qualification certificate, academic transcript, statement of attainment, or your USI transcript. When credit is granted, you will not need to repeat the training or assessment for that unit.

In some cases, the unit you have completed may have been superseded or is no longer current under the training package rules. If this occurs, you may be required to either complete the updated version of the unit in full or undertake partial “gap training” to bring your previous unit up to the current standard.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

You can apply for RPL once you are enrolled in your course. However, wherever possible, it is recommended that you provide your prior learning evidence at the offer letter stage. This will allow you to make an informed decision about your course duration and Tuition fee before commencing.

To apply, you must provide evidence that demonstrates your skills and knowledge. This evidence can include, but is not limited to:

  • Records of completed training
  • Assessment items or assessment records
  • Employer declarations

We will review the evidence to determine whether you already meet the unit requirements or if additional training or assessment is required.

Find What We Offer

If you have completed previous study or training, we can assess your eligibility for Credit Transfer within 24 hours. Simply submit all the required documents and our dedicated admissions team will guide you through the process. We’ll explain exactly what evidence you need to provide and ensure the experience is smooth, quick, and stress-free.

Your skills, experience, and support needs may sometimes indicate that a particular course is not the best fit for you. Speaking with us can help you make confident, informed decisions about your future. Our career counselling service will help you explore your options, clarify your goals, and identify the most suitable training pathway to match your career aspirations.

Before you enrol, we take the time to understand your skills, experience, and support needs. By the end of our conversation, you will understand:

  • Your Language, Literacy, Numeracy, Digital (LLN) and digital skill levels
  • Whether you may benefit from extra support to strengthen these skills
  • How your existing skills and experience may affect your course progress

This ensures you to start your course with a clear understanding and any adjustments to your training or assessment such as flexible scheduling, alternate technologies, or any tailored learning resource to assist in any areas for improvement to help you succeed.

Our goal is to match you with the course that best suits your current skills, goals, and circumstances. Depending on our assessment, we may:

  • Offer an alternative course that better aligns with your abilities
  • Refer you to career counselling for further pathway advice
  • Work with you to address minor skill gaps that can be developed during training

If any LLN and digital skill development is required, we will discuss your options with you before enrolment and formalise an agreed plan. This way, you know exactly what is expected and how we will support you to meet those expectations.
