The Certificate IV in Ageing Support prepares you for advanced roles in the aged care sector, whether in residential facilities, home care, or community-based environments. In this program, you’ll learn to deliver personalized care, develop individual service plans, and even lead teams. With a required 120-hour work placement, you’ll gain real-world experience that builds confidence and prepares you for a successful career in aged care support.

Facilities, Equipment, and Resources

Our program includes access to fully equipped classrooms and simulated care environments to help you learn hands-on skills before your work placement. Facilities at our training site include:

  • Training rooms with desks, chairs, a whiteboard, and a projector.
  • Access to computers with Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Learning materials like the Student Guide and Trainer Guide, PowerPoint presentations, and more.
  • Industry-standard equipment, such as mobility aids, medical supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and cleaning materials.

Note: This course meets the latest industry standards, equipping you with the skills needed to deliver exceptional care and support to the elderly.

Entry Requirements

International students must meet the following requirements to apply:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency with an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent. (This requirement is specific to Swanston Institute. For immigration-related English language requirements, please see the table below)
  • Participate in an entry interview to confirm course suitability and discuss any support needs.

Additional Requirements for Work Placement:

  • Age Requirement: Students must be at least 18 years old to engage in practical placements.
  • Police Check: A current national Police Check is required (VIC or NSW, based on your location).
  • Vaccination Requirements: Evidence of flu vaccination is required. COVID-19 vaccination may also be required based on workplace and state health department regulations.

Note: All compliance requirements, including vaccinations and police checks, must be completed before the practical placement. Swanston Institute will assist with placement arrangements and guide you through the process.
